Land of the Rats – “I Am Soildweller”
As with all mythology it’s likely that the events in question were originally influenced by something historical—being transformed over the centuries into grand exaggerations of gods and archetypal heroes and villians. Books V & VI will be a window into one of these ancient tales as we meet the misanthrope known as the “Soildweller” and his struggle against the “sky gods” who wage war on his kingdom.

The Underground Forest website update

Hey everybody, there have been massive improvements to theundergroundforest.com. I've added some character bios, improved some graphics and added an email submission field. Make sure to submit your email to receive information about upcoming Land of the Rats books, new projects in the works and my convention schedule. (I only plan on blasting ecards out semi-monthly. Don’t worry about getting your inbox bombarded).
( I was just kidding about that last part. I don’t really have a 9–5 job).

Hair Removal
I've been meaning to post this for awhile. If you don't see the irony or humor in this then get off of my blog. You have no business here. When I first drove by this place about a year ago it was covered in nests. I came back the next day with my camera but apparently the owners took care of the problem. (Maybe they contacted Houston Nest Removal?) So I had to wait a few months for the birds to return so I could get a good photo.

Living Water Triptych
I've always liked triptychs and whenever I’m in a museum I head right to the medeival art section to check them out. One could say the triptych is an early example of sequential storytelling—maybe Marvel Comics for the middle ages. Enough has been written about comics and modern mythology and I’m no scholar but that is kind of the idea here: create a triptych that feels like it was discovered by archaeologists in an ancient church—lost for centuries in a sealed-off vault and shows some heros from a forgotten age. In constructing this I have to admit my craftsmanship was a little off in places and things got a little scuffed. In the end this kind of added to the aesthetic and illusion of age.
